Kjære deltaker i Nord Jour-konferansen 2014
Dear participant of the Nord Jour Conference 2014
The financial crisis is one of the main issues in this year’s conference. I want to gather some of the experiences about the crisis from the Nordic countries we represent. Therefore, I kindly ask you all to reply shortly on a few questions prior to the conference:
1) What consequences have you seen in the media branch caused by the financial crisis? (You may pass om links to published articles)
2) Do you know about and scientific thesis investigating the press coverage of the crises? (if so, pass on a link to the thesis itself, an
abstract or a review)
3) Do you have any knowledge about whether the crises have had any deeper impact on journalism in 2014?
Your answers will be a base for discussion.
The Nordic Conference for Journalism Teachers will be held in Reykjavík 25 - 26 September 2014 and is hosted by the Journalism program at the University of Iceland, with the support of other members of the Nordic Cooperation Commitee of Journalism Teachers. This is the second time the conference is held in Iceland. In 2004 it took place in Höfðabrekka in Mýrdal, in the south eastern part of the country, but this time it´s held in the centre of REYKJAVIK, the capital of Iceland. The main purpose of the conference is to gather journalism teachers together in order to discuss and tackle common issues and problems in the journalistic field.
Höfðabrekka gave birth to the project Hovdabrekka, a nordic study of journalism students that has been going on since. We hope the conference in Reykjavík will be no less fruitful and interesting.
Registration is open. Individual participant (instituions) will pay for their travel and accommodation but other conference cost and meals during the conference are covered by membership fees. Deadline for registration is July the 20th after which date we cannot guarantee the hotel and the price of the rooms will go up by around 20%. Please note that the sooner you book a flight the less expensive it will be.
In connection with the conference there will a pre-conference „Making journalists through Journalism Education: Nordic perspectives“ on Wednesday the 24th. This pre-conference aims to bring together journalism education researchers with the aim to produce chapters for a Nordicom anthology with original writings on the subject for an international audience. The deadline for abstracts is April 14th 2014. Further information will be found in a separate chapter on this website under „Journalism education – pre-conference.
